Yamato is one of our go-to restaurant. The food and service is amazing every time. My favorite part is the sauce, next to the hibachi. Which is amazing!!!! The cooks are so nice, funny, and interactive. Like tossing broccoli into people's mouths. I get the same thing every time and it's better every time. I totally recommend this place!!!!

First off let me say the food was plentiful, but that is what you expect in a hibachi restaurant. Now to business, the food was mediocre and the service was horrendous. You would think on a Friday they would have more than 3 waitresses working. And the waitress ignored half the table when we were placing our order for appetizers. The best thing I can say is that the fish was very good, probably because we are in a city with easy access to the ocean where it came from. Oh and the miso was simply the worst! Dishwater with seaweed added. And the ginger dressing was so gingery it felt like they used paint thinner.

Had so many birthday celebrations here it's time to give them a much awaited review! The food is delicious, always had chicken, shrimp and or the steak dinners with fried rice and salad with mayo dressing and loved it always! The sushi I ate, my favorites have cream cheese in them! And the atmosphere was always fun! Super great for large groups!

Great sushi large menu and very good tasting. A little expensive. The food was very good we ordered the filet mignon and scallops. We ate in the bar area, it was very nuce. We did not do the hibachi where they cook at the table. We have done that in the past, it was very intertaining.

I've eaten at many hibachi restaurants in my life, Yamato is not one of the better ones. The hibachi food was mediocre, the sushi was below average, and the soup and salad was awful.

I pretty much think all Japanese Steak Houses are the same. If you are looking for a cool atmosphere, than this is your place. I love the dinner for two meal here. On off nights, they do some really good drink specials! The shrimp sauce here is a little on the sweet side. Also a plus is they serve noodles here as opposed to their opponent down the street that serves cabbage.

Great Place! Staff is very attentive and sweet. Food is great! Great sushi options. Definitely the best Japanese Steak House I have been to in the area. Will definitely come again and bring friends.

We always leave these types of places waddling back to the car after unbuttoning our pants. Our chef was actually asian unlike many others you see. Food was good, sushi took a while to come but was told before the sushi chef was backed up.

Hibachi is A-OK. The good: Chicken was the best we've ever had at a hibachi grill Ginger dipping sauce is great here Service from our waiter was wonderful The bad: Mediocre Hibachi performance Soup salad course wasn't very good Dumpling appetizer was mushy and watery

- Service: FANTASTIC, the staff was on top of everything. The hostess at the front door needs a little work, because she was turning people away by telling them that the wait was an hour, but in reality it was only like 10 minutes (Maybe there was a reaso

Really good hibachi & sushi! Every time I have dinner here it always feel like I'm celebrating something! What's great is if its someone birthday that person gets a free meal. Sushi is fresh, the hibachi show is funny & the food tastes just right The place is clean and the staffs are nice with good humor. I enjoy eating here :) My favorite is the filet mignon & scallops volcano roll sushi Green tea ice cream

I went for sushi only twice. The first time was pretty good, but the second time, it was awesome. The sushi master Mr. Han knows his stuff, and the fish is very fresh. Although they didn't have uni. I liked the salmon roe and conch. The chinese(?) waitress was not very kind, and made a few mistakes which was a minus. Her communication skill + kindness level was unsatisfactory. Most of the customers seem to be here for the hibachi, but I'd say just go for sushi.

Hit or miss. One time the food was awesome. The next time it was too salty. Just cross your fingers and hope you get a good chef.

The first review of this restaurant was pretty accurate, I just believe I experienced a better chef as the food was a little tastier than described below. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cheesy-Japanese. It is a wide-open restaurant that doesn't pipe in music, and the kimonos and chef costumes are very cheap. I have been to this restaurant to eat a few times, once on a Friday evening when it was busy, the other a Monday night when it was dead. The Friday evening atmosphere was a lot better, as there was a little buzz going through the place with the fireballs shooting up all throughout the restaurant, a lot of clapping and general excitement. The Monday evening was terrible, and you will probably have to wait a while for other parties to sit at the table with you. After being served soup and a small salad, the show begins as the chef shows up at the grill which is surrounded by your table. He flips eggs, makes some banging noises with his spatulas and spice containers, and uses props including an onion volcano which seems to entertain first-timers to no end. One of my chefs was actually very, very good, he was entertaining and a very good improv artist, cracking jokes with the kids around the table, the other chef was dead, and just going through the motions with his cooking. After being served your rice, you will be served with fried vegetables and whatever you choose to eat (chicken, shrimp, steak, etc...) The food isn't terrible, and you definitely will leave full and with a large to go box, so you do get your money's worth. They also have a sushi bar in the restaurant which you can sit at, or fill out a form and have it delivered to your table. The rolls aren't anything special, I couldn't find one on there that interested me. I did order some Yellowtail and Salmon sushi, which was surprisingly very good. Not the greatest sushi I've had, but it definitely seems their focus is on the teppanyaki part of the restaurant and entertaining the guests. Overall, this place seems to have the feel of a very cheap Bennigans. I felt the food was pretty tasty, and you do eat a lot, but there isn't much atmosphere unless you go on a Friday or Saturday night. I'm not sure if I will eat there again, but it wasn't a terrible experience. If you've never eaten there and have kids, I would definitely recommend you check it out at least once with the family, it's entertainment and a meal all in one. Any more than once, that's your call...

Hands down the best sushi I have ever had. Yamato roll was my favorite. We also got the wildcat roll, tuna roll, salmon roll and sashimi. Everything was perfect, fresh and delicious. Price was very reasonable, aprox $50 for all that sushi! If you like sushi, this is THE place to go!

Very busy Japanese steak house. The filet a little less quality I expected for the price but still good. Our chef used way too much oil in cooking that our rice was kind of swimming. Our waiter only checked on us once but the service was good. Over all okay- had better but there isn't much to choose from around here

My wife and I found this restaurant by accident. We were on our for dinner at a BBQ restaurant, when we saw Yamato. We have Samurai/Benihana close by to where we live, and since we were traveling away from home, decided to give this restaurant a try. The service was great. The food was excellent, and the prices were more than fair. I had shrimp and calamari. Both were cooked nicely. My wife got steak and scallops. I tried a piece of her steak, which was cooked to temperature and very tender. One thing I noticed, compared to Samurai, is that I didn't feel completely bloated after eating. Samurai uses enough butter to choke a horse. Yamato didn't go completely crazy with butter. I wish we had a Yamato in Miami. They'd put Samurai to shame.

We always have a great experience when we come here. The food is always good and it has an open, clean atmosphere.

Our first time at this restaurant. Good was delicious. Because the chefs were cooking at two other tables when we arrived, we did wait quite sometime for our main meal. Having three young children with us they were getting hungry waiting. It was odd that once the chefs were done they went in the back & we still waited awhile before they came back out. Granted they did serve soup & salad but still too long of a wait. My biggest complaint was the large screen TV that had the news on. There was no sound but our young grandson was very much concerned about watching the Maryland protests against the police. And then North Korea missles. Unnecessary to have on during dinner!!! I guess we should have moved his seat. No need to have that on in a restaurant!!! I hope the manager reads this!!

Had a very nice experience and dinner with my family here. The little one loved the cooking display with the fire and the comedy. Great couple next to us. Food from the grill was ok. I say just okay for a few reasons. A little bland, very pricey, smaller than usual portion. The Sushi is wonderful. Huge variety and sushi prices.. Service was very good but things just add up so quickly. More focus on the grill items is emphasized! But I had a great time eating sushi and drinking sake so I cant complain.

This is a favorite tradition for my friends and I to go here on our birthday because you get your birthday meal for free! The food is always amazing and I love their sauces. I have been going here for probably about 10 years, it was actually my very first Hibachi experience and is still my favorite. The atmosphere is nice, they usually are not too packed and the food is always great. The cook we got this time was not at enthusiastic as some I've had in the past but it could also be that spinning eggs and cho cho trains no longer excite us, if he had pulled off "or attempted would have been even funnier" the egg in the hat, he may have gotten our real attention. Anyway, always good. Only complaint is they will not seat your party until everyone has arrived... which I think is slightly ridiculous since you have to wait for a cook anyway, they could at least sit you and if your party is not complete by the time your cook arrives then pass you up. Just a thought.

Let's just say I really enjoyed my dinner here. I love Japanese food and this place is the bomb! It's super clean and well decorated. The staff is really friendly and the cook was hilarious. I've been to many Japanese steakhouses and this is the best one. I was about to try another one out and asked a lady outside of it and she recommended Yamato and not the other place. They give you bigger portions including noodles and rice. I will definitely return.
